The German DESY research centre planned the XFEL research facility based on X-ray lasers, which is to be operated in a 3.4 kilometer tunnel between the Hamburg district of Bahrenfeld and the city of Schenefeld. Extensive tunneling work was necessary to realize the research facility. The operation of the tunnel construction site at the “Osdorfer Born” is to be assessed particularly critically due to the proximity to residential areas. During construction site operation, continuous sound level measurements and consultations were carried out for the optimization of construction site activities.
